GIORGIO FERRARI
A graduate in Applied Sport Science from the University of Parma, he is currently studying Sport Science and Techniques at post-graduate level at the University of Bologna. He is a 3rd Dan FIJLKAM and IKGA black belt and an official national squad technician and aspiring trainer. He is a kinesiologist, athletic trainer and CONI sports instructor and works full-time with several sports associations in the Parma area. Giorgio started practising karate in 1999 in a SHU REN KAN Fidenza children’s course run by Master Mario Laurini.
In 2004, he joined the competitors group and started competing at national level.
In 2005, Giorgio was invited to join the national Goju-Ryu team and came 3rd at the IKGA World Championships in Rotterdam. In 2006, he achieved 1st Dan black belt. In July 2007, he won a gold medal in the IKGA European championships in Berne and the European Champion title for Kata (form). In 2009 he won a bronze medal in the Cape Town world championships.
He has won many regional and national titles and is an expert in Kata (form).
He started as Master Laurini’s assistant in 2006, helping teach Karate courses in Fidenza for younger students.
Over the years he has continued supporting Master Laurini and also running his own courses
in the local area. He is currently teaching the Competitors’ course in Fidenza, specialising in athletic training and Kata. He is also teaching and running the Children’s course in Salsomaggiore Terme and Children’s and Amateur courses in Parma. Giorgio is the Athletes Representative on the Association’s Board of Directors.
